MP - The Bigger Picture
Most dietary ideologies have one or more "bad guys".
For the vegans and vegetarians, it tends to be saturated fats and cholesterol.
For the keto and paleo advocates, it is usually carbs and insulin.
Pretty much everyone tends to agree that sugar is the devil and that processed food is asking for a trip to an early grave.
The Bioenergetic view takes a different approach - one that I believe is more accepting and understanding of both viewpoints - seeing benefits and drawbacks inherent in both yet stepping back and seeing the bigger picture. Seeing the underlying physiology from this vantage point it is possible to build an understanding of why different ways of eating can benefit us all at different times.
The low fat and often high carbohydrate eating of the plant-based vegan or fruitarian can support cellular respiration and use of glucose as energy, increasing thyroid hormone and carbon dioxide production, which is super, though can eventually run low on important fat soluble vitamins whilst undercooked or poorly prepared plants start causing gut disbyosis.
Keto, paleo, and carnivore diets remove the problems of endotoxin and gut irritants, relaxing our whole body and taking strain off the liver, whilst often flooding the body with nutrient rich organ meats, saturated fats, and bone broths which can heal the gut lining. However, the focus away from carbohydrates can lower metabolic rate, increase the stress hormones, and eventually leave us cold, depressed, and sexless.
Both can increase our cellular energy, and both can eventually lower it - but understanding the WHY behind it can help to make decisions on how we move forward.
For myself - only the Bioenergetic view has been able to explain the WHY behind other dietary methods.
